The capacity building visit of two Lao and two Thai partners at the University of Helsinki includes the following agenda:

April 24, 2023: The first day of the 4-week FRAME short-term capacity building activities begins with introductions and campus tours conducted by VITRI of the University of Helsinki. Academic staff from Thai Universities (Chiang Mai and Kasetsart Universities) and Lao Universities (Savannakhet and Souphanouvong Universities) are participants. Staff from the National University of Laos and universities in Vietnam involved in other projects administered by VITRI also join on this day.

April 25, 2023: Introduction to Land Change and a practical session on using the QGIS program.

April 26, 2023: E-Learning session at the University of Helsinki.

April 27, 2023: Thesis supervision lecture and group work.

April 28, 2023: Research and thesis plan (lecture and group work) and academic ethics session.

May 2, 2023: Grant Writing Workshop covering topics such as Resources and Guides, Finding Funding, Drafting Proposals and Plans, including Formulating the Research and The Generic Template.

May 3, 2023: Introduction to CO2FIX and CarboScen software using various data sets.

May 4, 2023: Continuation of the Grant Writing Workshop, focusing on Outputs & Outcomes, Planning & Targeting Applications, The Review Process, and Real-World Examples.

May 5, 2023: The last day at the University of Helsinki includes the awarding of certificates and discussions about future collaborations. Academic staff from Thai Universities (Chiang Mai and Kasetsart Universities) and Lao Universities (Savannakhet and Souphanouvong Universities) are participants.
The capacity building activities aim to enhance the skills and knowledge of the academic staff from Thai and Lao universities in various areas, including research, grant writing, land change, and educational methods. The visit also provides opportunities for collaboration and networking among the participants from different universities and countries.
